This treatment is offered in our clinics of: Jonquière

Electrocautery is a method that destroys and removes tissue by means of electricity. A small probe with an electric current is used to destroy the tissue by burning it or dissecting it.

1. TREATMENT OF ACROCHORDONS

A skin tags is a small, totally harmless skin growth that is supple and flesh-colored. It is usually formed in the skin folds, example on the neck and armpits. With the help of electro-cauterization, the skin tags are burned one by one and the result is instantaneous. This method is very painless.

2. TREATMENT OF PLANTAR WART

Plantar wart is a skin lesion caused by the proliferation of human papillomavirus (HPV). It manifests itself as a rough excrescence under the arch of the feet at the different points of support. It is very contagious and is transmitted indirectly.

SYMPTOMS

  • Pain in the compression sometimes causing lameness.
  • Corneal induration of variable size.

IF NOT TREATED

Risk of self contamination by the lymph. If there is a cut, the virus spreads (KOBNER phenomenon)

IF TREATED

Healing without sequelae but persistence of scar tissue + or – occasional pain. To treat the plantar wart by electrocautery a local anesthetic is injected to reduce the pain during cauterization. Thereafter a small dressing with an antibiotic cream are applied to avoid contamination and friction.

3. TREATMENT OF VULGAR WART

These warts are most often caused by papillomaviruses. They are bumpy, light-colored, white, and rough to the touch. These develop on the hands, the fingers sometimes even the knees or the elbows. This wart takes on the dome aspect. Rarely painful, it can be troublesome.

During treatment with electrocautery, the patient may use a mild local anesthetic.
